Washing
Wash in the washing machine (at 60 degrees, other temperatures as appropriate)
Broken bar (sometimes also a double bar): Wash very gently - use only delicates or wool wash cycle (at 30 degrees, other temperatures as appropriate)
Wash cold
Bar below the washtub: Easy-care or delicates wash cycle (at 40 degrees, other temperatures as appropriate)
Hand wash (cold or lukewarm, max. 40, preferably 30 degrees)
Do not wash (usually means dry-clean) - the St Andrew's cross is sometimes replaced by an x or xx.
There is no particular symbol for spin-drying. You should go by the washing symbol. If a gentle wash cycle is recommended (a bar below the tub, or even a broken bar), spin-dry at low speed only. Do not spin-dry particularly delicate items (such as silk or wool - hand washing is usually recommended for these). Wrap such items instead in a towel and then lie out flat to dry.
